SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/aero-fog-ground-cloud
What is fog?
A cloud at ground level, made of tiny water droplets.
- A ground-level cloud ✔
- A high ice cloud
- A wall of rain
Why: Fog is made of tiny liquid water droplets at or very near the surface. It reduces visibility because those droplets scatter light.
Huh, didn't know that: Pilots run into fog often, which is why it matters so much in flight weather.
Why did the cloud sit down? It was feeling foggy.
