SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/aero-fuselage-three-structures
Which list names three common fuselage structures?
Truss, monocoque, and semimonocoque are the three common classifications.
- Truss, monocoque, semimonocoque ✔
- Rigid, rotary, folding
- Straight, swept, delta
Why: A fuselage can carry loads through a framework, its outer shell, or a combination of both. Those approaches are called truss, monocoque, and semimonocoque.
Huh, didn't know that: A monocoque fuselage carries almost all of its loads through its outer skin, much like a soda can.
Why did the fuselage study hard? It wanted a well-rounded body of knowledge!
