When is an Instrument Landing System used?
ILS is used near an airport for landing.
- For ocean navigation
- For measuring fuel
- For an approach to landing ✔
Why: ILS is a landing aid, not a system for the whole trip. Its signals guide an aircraft during the final approach near the airport.
Huh, didn't know that: An ILS approach provides a defined path toward the runway.
Why did the airplane trust ILS? It always offered sound guidance!
