Which sequence follows air through a basic jet engine core?
Compress, burn, expand through turbine.
- Burn, compress, cool
- Expand, store, compress
- Compress, burn, drive turbine ✔
Why: The compressor raises the air pressure. Fuel burns in that compressed air, and the hot gases expand through a turbine before leaving the engine.
Huh, didn't know that: The compressor and turbine are linked by a central shaft.
The jet engine followed directions because it liked going with the flow.
