What is the tropopause?
The boundary at the top of the troposphere that traps weather below it.
- The bottom layer of the atmosphere
- A type of thunderstorm cloud
- The boundary on top of the troposphere ✔
Why: The tropopause sits like a lid on top of the troposphere and keeps moisture and weather below it. Its height changes with latitude and season.
Huh, didn't know that: Pilots care about it because the jet stream and bumpy clear air turbulence are often found near it.
Why did the tropopause stop the storm? Because it put a lid on it.
