What is wind shear?
Wind shear is a change in wind speed, direction, or both over a short distance.
- A steady wind all day
- A cloud touching the ground
- A change in wind speed or direction ✔
Why: An aircraft crossing wind shear suddenly enters air moving differently. The rapid change can affect its flight path, especially near takeoff or landing.
Huh, didn't know that: Wind shear can occur vertically or horizontally.
Why could wind shear not make up its mind? It kept changing speed and direction!
