SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/boat-hypothermia-95
Hypothermia is medically defined as a core body temperature below what?
95 degrees F (35 degrees C).
- 95 degrees F ✔
- 98.6 degrees F
- 85 degrees F
Why: Normal body temperature is about 98.6 degrees F. Hypothermia starts when your core drops below 95 degrees F. Before that, a person is usually very cold and shivering hard.
Huh, didn't know that: It takes about thirty minutes for an average adult to become hypothermic even in near-freezing water, so cold shock and weakness are the earlier dangers.
What did the thermometer say to the ice cube? You make my temperature drop.
