What is a standing committee?
One that operates continuously, with no end date.
- A committee that operates continuously ✔
- A committee that meets on a fixed schedule
- A temporary committee for one issue
Why: A standing committee keeps going with an open-ended charter. A select committee is set up temporarily, usually to look at one issue, though some end up lasting for years.
Huh, didn't know that: Committees are useful when an issue needs special handling, like private personnel matters.
Why does the standing committee never sit down? It's always on duty.
