Supreme Court justices serve for life. Why?

To be independent of politics.

  1. To reward them for past service
  2. To be independent of politics ✔
  3. To save the cost of elections

Why: Lifetime service means justices do not have to worry about reelection or keeping their jobs. That helps them decide cases fairly. USCIS also accepts "to limit outside influence."

Huh, didn't know that: Federal judges can be removed only by impeachment in the House and conviction in the Senate.

The dad joke
Why do justices wear robes? So they always look a-robe-able in court.
