SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/diab-sharps-three-quarters
When should a home sharps disposal container be sealed up and disposed of?
When it's about three-quarters full.
- When it's completely overflowing
- Once a year, no matter what
- When it's about three-quarters full ✔
Why: Overfilling raises the risk of an accidental needle stick. At about three-quarters full, seal it and follow your community's rules for getting rid of it. Don't reuse the container.
Huh, didn't know that: Drop-off options can include pharmacies, hospitals, doctors' offices, health departments, and police or fire stations, depending on where you live.
What did the pencil say to the other pencil? You're looking sharp.
