In type 2 diabetes, what does 'insulin resistance' mean?

The body doesn't use insulin properly, so blood sugar builds up.

  1. The body makes no insulin at all
  2. The body doesn't use insulin properly ✔
  3. Insulin shots stop working forever

Why: In type 2, cells in the muscles, fat and liver don't respond well to insulin. At first the pancreas makes extra to keep up, but over time it can't make enough to keep blood sugar normal.

Huh, didn't know that: Type 2 is the most common form of diabetes.
