What does implied consent mean when you drive?

You have already agreed to an alcohol or drug test if an officer suspects impaired driving.

  1. You agree to alcohol or drug testing ✔
  2. You agree to a search of your car
  3. You agree to never drink alcohol

Why: By driving, you are treated as having agreed to a breath, blood or urine test if an officer suspects impaired driving. Refusing usually means losing your license.

Huh, didn't know that: In New York, refusing the test can cost you your license even if you are found not guilty of the alcohol charge.

The dad joke
Why was the driver's license so agreeable? It had implied consent to everything!
