SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/drive-pedestrian-night
At night, which person walking near the road is hardest for a driver to see?
Someone in dark clothing.
- Someone in dark clothing ✔
- Someone in a reflective vest
- Someone carrying a flashlight
Why: At night you can see only as far as your headlights reach, and dark clothes blend into the dark. Slow down and watch the edges of the road.
Huh, didn't know that: Motorcycles and bicyclists are also much harder to see at night.
Why do walkers wear white at night? So cars do not play hide and seek with them!
