SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/drone-doc-listing-check
Before Category 2 or 3 flight over people, what FAA listing must the pilot verify?
Verify the drone is listed on an FAA-accepted Declaration of Compliance.
- An FAA-accepted Declaration of Compliance ✔
- A Part 107 waiver for flight over people
- A LAANC authorization
Why: Category 2 and 3 eligibility depends on an accepted Declaration of Compliance, called a DOC. The remote pilot must verify both the listing and the proper category label.
Huh, didn't know that: An unapproved modification that affects eligibility can require a new DOC.
Why did the drone check the declaration? It wanted its compliance clearly stated.
