SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/drone-property-single-state
A drone business delivers packages for pay under Part 107. Where must each delivery take place?
Wholly within one state.
- Anywhere in the United States
- Only within 5 miles of an airport
- Wholly within the bounds of a single state ✔
Why: Part 107 allows carrying property for compensation, but the trip must stay inside one state. It also must stay within visual line of sight, in a confined area.
Huh, didn't know that: Hazardous materials can never be carried, even inside one state.
Why did the delivery drone refuse to cross the state line? It didn't want to make it a federal case.
