SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/drone-waiver-apply-early
The FAA recommends a Part 107 waiver start date at least how long after applying?
At least 90 days after the application date.
- At least 90 days ✔
- At least 7 days
- Exactly 1 year
Why: Part 107 sets no application deadline. Current FAA guidance recommends choosing a start date at least 90 days after applying, and review time varies with complexity.
Huh, didn't know that: The application must show the operation can be done safely; more complex requests need more data.
Why did the drone pilot apply early? Because waiting until the last minute never really takes off.
