Which battery chemistry is NOT rechargeable?

Carbon-zinc, the cheap single-use type.

  1. Nickel-cadmium
  2. Lithium-ion
  3. Carbon-zinc ✔

Why: Carbon-zinc cells are meant to be used once and thrown away. Nickel-cadmium, lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries can all be recharged.

Huh, didn't know that: Rapidly charging or discharging an unprotected battery can cause overheating or out-gassing.

The dad joke
Why did the carbon-zinc battery skip the gym? It knew it couldn't recharge after.
