SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/ham-coax-common-feed-line
Why is coaxial cable the most common amateur radio feed line?
Coax is easy to use and needs few special installation considerations.
- It always has the least loss
- It always handles the most power
- It is easy to install and use ✔
Why: Coax is convenient to route and use in many station installations. It is not automatically the lowest-loss, highest-power, or least-expensive feed line.
Huh, didn't know that: Coax contains a center conductor surrounded by insulation and an outer shield.
