SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/ham-receiver-selectivity
What term describes a receiver's ability to discriminate between multiple signals?
Selectivity.
- Selectivity ✔
- Sensitivity
- Discrimination ratio
Why: Selectivity is how well a receiver picks out one signal while rejecting others nearby. Sensitivity is a different thing, the ability to detect weak signals.
Huh, didn't know that: For SSB reception, a 2400 Hz receiver filter gives the best signal-to-noise ratio.
Why is my receiver so popular? It's very selective about who it listens to.
