SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/ham-rf-non-ionizing
What type of radiation are radio signals?
Non-ionizing radiation.
- Ionizing radiation
- Gamma radiation
- Non-ionizing radiation ✔
Why: Radio waves do not have enough energy to cause chemical changes in cells or damage DNA. Ionizing radiation, like X-rays and gamma rays, does.
Huh, didn't know that: FCC exposure limits vary with frequency because the body absorbs more RF at some frequencies.
Why did the radio wave stay calm? It was non-ionizing, it does not get charged up.
