SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/ham-simplex-meaning
What do hams call transmitting and receiving on the same frequency?
Simplex.
- Simplex ✔
- Full duplex
- Multiplex
Why: Simplex means both stations talk and listen on one frequency, without a repeater. A repeater receives on one frequency and transmits on another.
Huh, didn't know that: Band plans set aside simplex channels so nearby stations can talk without tying up a repeater.
Why do hams like simplex? It keeps things simple.
