When should you fill out and attach a tag to a deer or turkey that requires one?

Right away, before field dressing, photos or moving it.

  1. When you get home
  2. Once you reach the meat processor
  3. Immediately, before field dressing or moving it ✔

Why: Tagging right after the harvest proves it was taken legally. Hunter education says to secure the tag before field dressing, taking photos or transporting the animal.

Huh, didn't know that: Many states also require you to report or check in the harvest; rules differ by state.
