A blocked static port causes errors in which instruments besides the airspeed indicator?
The altimeter and VSI.
- Tachometer and oil gauge
- Altimeter and VSI ✔
- Compass and turn coordinator
Why: The airspeed indicator, altimeter, and vertical speed indicator all use static pressure. Blocking the static source can corrupt all three indications.
Huh, didn't know that: Moisture, ice, dirt, or insects can block pitot-static openings.
