SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/pilot-forward-slip-crosswind-bank
With a crosswind during a forward slip, which wing should be lowered?
Lower the upwind wing.
- Upwind wing ✔
- Downwind wing
- Either wing with no difference
Why: Bank into the crosswind by lowering the upwind wing. Slipping into the wind makes it easier to remain on the intended ground track.
Huh, didn't know that: Opposite rudder keeps the airplane from turning with the bank.
The upwind wing dipped politely into the breeze.
