Besides position and anticollision lights, what spare item does night VFR require if the airplane uses fuses?
One spare set of fuses, or three of each kind, reachable in flight.
- A spare set of fuses within reach in flight ✔
- A spare battery for the radio
- A second magnetic compass
Why: For night VFR, 91.205 adds approved position lights, an anticollision light system, an adequate electrical source, and one spare set of fuses, or three spare fuses of each kind, accessible to the pilot in flight.
Huh, didn't know that: A landing light is required at night only if the aircraft is operated for hire.
I always carry spare fuses at night. My temper has a short one, so the airplane should have extras.
