After adding bleach to disinfect water, how long should you wait before drinking?

At least 30 minutes.

Why: Chlorine needs time to kill germs. The CDC says let treated water stand at least 30 minutes before drinking.

Huh, didn't know that: Use plain unscented bleach, not bleach with scents or added cleaners.
