SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/scout-sleeping-bag-rating
How should you pick a sleeping bag's temperature rating?
Rated colder than the coldest night you expect.
- Rated exactly at the daytime high
- Rated colder than the coldest night you expect ✔
- The warmest-rated bag, for any trip
Why: Ratings are often the extreme limit, not a comfy night. Scout Life says get a bag rated for colder temperatures than you expect, and pack extra layers to sleep in.
Huh, didn't know that: A bag rated to zero degrees uses much more insulation than a 30 degree bag.
Why did the sleeping bag go to the doctor? It had a zipper problem it couldn't close up.
