Air is 10°F and the wind chill is -10°F. How cold can your water bottle get?
No colder than 10°F, the actual air temperature.
- -10°F, the wind chill
- 10°F, the air temperature ✔
- 0°F, halfway between
Why: Wind chill is how cold people and animals feel as wind pulls heat from skin. Objects just cool faster to the air temperature, never below it.
Huh, didn't know that: At 0°F with a 15 mph wind, the wind chill is -19°F and exposed skin can freeze in 30 minutes.
