SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/ai-hidden-layer-definition
Where is a neural network's hidden layer located?
It sits between input and output layers.
- After the loss function
- Inside the dataset
- Between input and output ✔
Why: Input layers receive features and output layers produce predictions. Any intervening computational layers are called hidden layers.
Huh, didn't know that: Network depth usually refers to how many successive parameterized layers transform the representation.
Why was the hidden layer hard to find? It stayed between the lines.
