SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/ai-production-model-monitoring
Why monitor model quality after deployment?
To detect performance degradation and staleness.
- Training accuracy never changes
- Every alert means retrain
- Production behavior can degrade ✔
Why: Offline evaluation is only a snapshot. Monitoring live statistics, outcomes, latency, and errors can reveal that data or system conditions no longer match expectations.
Huh, didn't know that: A drift alert is a reason to investigate, not automatic proof that the model is wrong.
The monitor watched the model so the model could watch the data.
