- A sole proprietorship ✔
- A single-member LLC
- An S corporation
Why: The SBA says you are automatically a sole proprietor if you do business but never register as anything else. An LLC or corporation only exists after you file with your state.
Huh, didn't know that: The SBA calls it a good fit for low-risk businesses and for owners testing an idea before forming something more formal.
