SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/boat-go-no-go-storm
Which situation is a good reason to cancel a boat trip before leaving the dock?
A storm in the forecast is a clear no-go.
- An approaching storm is forecast ✔
- A friend can't come along
- You forgot your sunglasses
Why: Operators make a 'go or no-go' call using weather, boat condition, skill and the checklist. A forecast storm means stay ashore. Missing friends or sunglasses are just inconveniences.
Huh, didn't know that: The Coast Guard says to never leave the dock without first checking the local weather forecast.
How do hurricanes see? With one eye.
