SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/cdl-center-of-gravity-low
Where should the heaviest cargo go to keep a truck stable?
Low, under the lighter cargo.
- High, on top of lighter cargo
- As far back as possible
- Low, under the lighter cargo ✔
Why: A low center of gravity keeps the truck stable. Load cargo as low as possible, with the heaviest parts under the lightest parts.
Huh, didn't know that: A high center of gravity makes tipping over most likely in curves or when you swerve.
Why did the heavy load sit low? It liked being down to earth.
