SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/cdl-hot-weather-tire-check
In very hot weather, how often should you inspect your tires?
Inspect tires every 2 hours or 100 miles in very hot weather.
- Once a day at the pre-trip
- Every 2 hours or 100 miles ✔
- Only when a tire looks low
Why: Heat raises tire pressure and can lead to a blowout. Do not let air out of hot tires, or the pressure will be too low once they cool.
Huh, didn't know that: If a tire is too hot to touch, stay stopped until it cools off.
Why did the tire check itself when cool? It did not want to inflate its ego.
