Which is a promise new citizens make in the Oath of Allegiance?

Defend the Constitution.

  1. Defend the Constitution ✔
  2. Vote in every election
  3. Live in one state for life

Why: In the Oath, new citizens promise to defend the Constitution, obey U.S. laws, give up loyalty to other countries, and serve if needed. Voting is a right, not an oath promise.

Huh, didn't know that: Taking the Oath of Allegiance at a ceremony is the final step to becoming a citizen.

The dad joke
Why did the new citizen raise their right hand? Because it was the right thing to do.
