SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/civics-who-vetoes
Who vetoes bills?
The President.
- The Supreme Court
- The President ✔
- The Speaker of the House
Why: A veto is when the President rejects a bill passed by Congress. Courts can strike down laws later, but that is not a veto.
Huh, didn't know that: Congress can override a veto with a two-thirds vote in both the House and the Senate.
Why did the bill come back home so soon? It got vetoed and needed a hug.
