SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/diab-hypo-unawareness
What is 'hypoglycemia unawareness'?
Having a low without feeling the usual warning signs.
- Not knowing what diabetes is
- Having a low without feeling warning signs ✔
- Forgetting to schedule an A1C test
Why: Some people stop feeling the early warning signs of a low, often after frequent lows or many years with diabetes. Checking more often and using a CGM alarm helps, especially before driving.
Huh, didn't know that: ADA says avoiding even mild lows for several weeks can help bring the warning signs back.
Why did the invisible man turn down the job? He couldn't see himself doing it.
