SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/drone-category-1-weight
What is the weight limit for a Category 1 drone flying over people?
0.55 pounds (about 250 grams) or less.
- 0.75 pounds
- 0.65 pounds
- 0.55 pounds ✔
Why: Category 1 drones must weigh 0.55 pounds or less on takeoff and for the whole flight, including everything on board or attached. They also must have no exposed rotating parts that would cut skin.
Huh, didn't know that: Category 1 drones may not hold sustained flight over open-air crowds unless they meet Remote ID rules.
Why did the Category 1 drone refuse the camera upgrade? It was watching its weight.
