When may a remote pilot reduce the brightness of the anti-collision lights?

When dimming is in the interest of safety, but never turned off.

  1. Never
  2. When the pilot decides dimming is safer ✔
  3. Whenever a manned aircraft is nearby

Why: Part 107 lets the remote PIC reduce the intensity if operating conditions make that safer. The lights may never be turned off.

Huh, didn't know that: The same dimming allowance applies during civil twilight and at night.

The dad joke
My drone's lights have a dimmer switch but no off switch. Kind of like my brother.
