SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/drone-multiple-category-switching
When may one drone qualify for multiple operations-over-people categories?
It may qualify if the remote PIC cannot switch modes accidentally.
- Whenever its label is removable
- Only while flying below 50 feet
- When inadvertent mode switching is prevented ✔
Why: A small UAS may be eligible for one or more categories. Its design must prevent the remote PIC from inadvertently switching between qualifying modes or configurations.
Huh, didn't know that: Variable configurations can change which operations-over-people category the aircraft satisfies.
Why was the drone careful with modes? It did not want to flip out.
