To fly at night under Part 107, the remote pilot's initial test or training must be completed after what date?
April 6, 2021, the cutoff date named in the rule.
- January 1, 2019
- April 6, 2021 ✔
- Any date, if the certificate is current
Why: Night flying needs both lit anti-collision lights and a pilot who passed the test or took the training after April 6, 2021. Older certificate holders get night privileges by completing the updated recurrent training.
Huh, didn't know that: Old night waivers issued before the rule change stopped working on May 17, 2021.
Why do drone pilots love night school? The lessons really light up.
