A licensed airplane pilot with a current flight review wants a drone certificate. What can replace the knowledge test?
An FAA online training course, instead of the initial knowledge test.
- Completing the FAA's Part 107 online training ✔
- A practical flight test with an examiner
- Nothing, their pilot license already covers drones
Why: Part 61 pilots (not student pilots) with a current flight review may complete training instead of the initial test. They still apply for a separate Remote Pilot Certificate.
Huh, didn't know that: The application goes through a Flight Standards office, an examiner, an airman certification representative or a flight instructor, who checks the pilot's identity.
Why did the airline pilot breeze through drone school? They already knew the ups and downs.
