SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/drone-wifi-interference-flyaway
Near dense office buildings full of Wi-Fi, what drone problem does the FAA warn about?
Control link interference that can cause loss of control or a flyaway.
- Stronger GPS signals
- Faster battery charging
- Interference causing loss of control or flyaway ✔
Why: Most drones use the same 2.4 and 5.8 GHz bands as Wi-Fi. In crowded signal areas, interference can break the control link.
Huh, didn't know that: Both 2.4 and 5.8 GHz are line-of-sight bands, so buildings between you and the drone can block the link.
Why did the drone break up with the Wi-Fi router? There was too much interference in the relationship.
