SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/founder-seven-a-apply-to-lender
Where does a business submit a normal SBA 7(a) application?
Apply directly through a participating lender, not to SBA itself.
- The IRS
- A state licensing office
- A participating lender ✔
Why: SBA sets program rules and guarantees part of qualifying loans. The local participating lender receives the application, requests documents, and works with the borrower.
Huh, didn't know that: 7(a) proceeds can support working capital, equipment, real estate, refinancing, and ownership changes within program rules.
Why did the application visit the bank? It knew the right address.
