SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/ham-dmr-color-code
What is the color code on a DMR repeater system?
An access code your radio needs to use that repeater.
- A code that sets the repeater offset automatically
- A code naming the CODEC the repeater decodes
- An access code your radio needs to use that repeater ✔
Why: A DMR repeater listens only for radios programmed with its color code. If your radio has the wrong one, the repeater ignores you.
Huh, didn't know that: Despite the name, a DMR color code is a number, not a color.
My DMR radio failed the color code test. It was feeling a little blue.
