SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/ham-fm-bandwidth
What is the approximate bandwidth of an FM voice signal on VHF repeaters?
Between 10 and 15 kHz.
- Between 10 and 15 kHz ✔
- About 150 kHz
- Less than 500 Hz
Why: FM voice signals on VHF repeaters are about 10 to 15 kHz wide. That is several times wider than an SSB signal.
Huh, didn't know that: AM fast-scan amateur TV is far wider still, about 6 MHz.
Why did the FM signal need a bigger room? It had a 15 kHz wingspan.
