What does the VFO circuit in a transceiver do?
It sets the receive and transmit frequency.
- Provides automatic frequency control
- Generates and demodulates SSB signals
- Sets the receive and transmit frequency ✔
Why: VFO means variable frequency oscillator. Turning the main tuning knob changes the VFO, which sets where you listen and transmit.
Huh, didn't know that: Many radios have two VFOs, often labeled A and B, so you can jump between two frequencies.
My VFO knob and I go way back. We've been through a lot of changes together.
