SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/hame-beverage-termination
What is the function of a Beverage antenna's termination resistor?
It absorbs signals arriving from the reverse direction.
- Absorb signals from the reverse direction ✔
- Increase the front-to-side ratio
- Eliminate harmonic reception
Why: A Beverage is a long wire for receiving. The terminating resistor soaks up the wave that would otherwise reflect, which keeps the antenna directional.
Huh, didn't know that: A Beverage antenna should be at least one wavelength long for good performance (E9H01).
You know you might be a ham when you have more wire run than the Power Company does.
