What happens when my kid turns 13?
On their 13th birthday a kid's player becomes a regular account automatically, with the same score and progress. They can then pick their own player name. We let the parent know, and we still send no news unless they turn it on themselves.
On a kid's 13th birthday, their player becomes a regular account on its own. Nothing is lost.
- Same score, streak and cards learned.
- They can pick their own player name instead of the generated one.
- We tell the parent that it happened.
- No news emails unless they turn news on themselves.
This is why the birthday a parent types at /parent/ matters. We also celebrate birthdays with a little bonus, and a kid's birthday is never shown publicly.
Teens 13 and older can also use Continue with Google to sign in, which helps when a supervised Gmail account blocks our code emails.
