SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/home-yard-filter-arrow-airflow
When installing a furnace filter, which way should its airflow arrow point?
Point it toward the furnace.
- Toward the furnace ✔
- Toward the nearest window
- Straight upward in every system
Why: The arrow follows the air toward the equipment. The filter slot may be horizontal or vertical, so direction matters more than up or down.
Huh, didn't know that: Trane suggests writing the date on the filter so you know when to change it.
What did one windmill say to the other? I'm a big metal fan.
